Lean logic and the ADHD brain

The process of Lean helps helps large and small companies identify the source of waste and take steps to eliminate it. By following this process we can find waste in our personal lives thanks to ADHD (hint: There is a lot of it). By eliminating waste and identifying root causes of ADHD symptom triggers we can reduce the impact on our lives by creating countermeasures to make life easier.

Mental and physical clutter is a trigger for overwhelm, causing a spiral of wasted time and space.

Lean is a broad technique that is designed for manufacturing and production processes, although it has industrial roots these logical steps can be utilised to improve the business of “You inc.”

Reducing waste:

  • Materials/Stuff – do you have old/broken/redundant items causing clutter in your life?
  • Money – Are you paying for things you don’t use?
  • Mistakes – Do you make mistakes that cost time or money?
  • Excess inventory – Do you have too much of something? taking up space and causing clutter?
  • Tools/Equipment – Do you have excess tools, equipment? single use kitchen tools that rarely get used etc.
  • People – Do you lean on people for certain tasks, using both your time and theirs?
  • Information – Is your information stored in a variety of places? DO you miss dates/bills/deadlines?
  • Improper work – Do you have the right tools for the job? are you wasting time/money making do with something less productive just because?

By identifying and reducing waste in our life we can regain balance incrementally, reducing clutter and making life easier. We will go through each waste type, providing tips and tricks to get in control and create a lean lifestyle.
